Sharing Your Information

Storing Your Information

It is a legal requirement of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for Speech and Language Therapists to keep records for the clients they are working with. This is relevant to the following HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethics:

  • You must keep full, clear, and accurate records for everyone you care for, treat, or provide other services to (10.1)

  • You must complete all records promptly and as soon as possible after providing care, treatment or other services (10.2)

  • You must keep records secure by protecting them from loss, damage or inappropriate access (10.3)

Further information about the HCPC standards can be found here - https://www.hcpc-uk.org/standards/meeting-our-standards/record-keeping/our-expectations-for-your-record-keeping/

Keeping data and information safe is very important to us. To meet our standards of conduct, we store all client information on a secure online note keeping platform which is compliant with General Data Protection Regulations (May 2018). The service also holds a Data Controller registration with the Information Commissions Office (ICO).

Before your initial consultation we will send you a consent form to confirm you agree for us to create an online care record for you/your child. If you do not consent to the creation of a care record we will be unable to meet our professional standards and will not be able to work with you/your child. A record of your consent is stored in your/your child’s electronic care record.

We request your consent before the initial consultation to share information with other professionals involved in your/your child’s care when it is considered in best interests.

  • Except where required by law, we will not disclose any personal information collected to anyone other than those specified in your consent form.

  • We do not sell data to third party agencies.

  • We do not employ external marketing agencies.
