Co-Founder & Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
My name is Beth and I am the co-founder of Thrive Communication Therapy and a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist.
I graduated from Newcastle University in 2015 and have worked in both the NHS and independent sector across my career. This has involved me working across a wide range of clinical environments including; mainstream primary and secondary schools, Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings and with individuals aged between 2 and 25.
I have been fortunate to work in both specialist and consultative models of care which have provided me with the skills to develop functional impact in the child/young person’s environment. I love to work with settings as a whole and consider how to integrate communication development into the curriculum and school processes. I have a special interest in behaviour and school exclusion and the links with communication needs.
My therapeutic style is all about connection and fun. I really value the relationships I build with my clients and their support networks, and love to work on skills that are important for real life.
I have extensive experience working with children and young people with language and communication difficulties and differences including:
Preschool Language Development
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
Autism (ASC)
ADHD
Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH)
Speech Sound Disorders
Learning Disability
Selective Mutism
When I’m not working, you will find me out and about in all weathers with my border collie Stanley or snuggled up with a good book and a cup of tea!

Co-Founder & Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
My name is Emma and I am a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who brings fun and creativity to every therapy session. I have over 8 years of experience working across the North West, and am dedicated to helping individuals of all ages achieve their aspirations and communicate more confidently.
My therapeutic philosophy is all about empathy, embracing all forms of communication, and making therapy a joyful experience for everyone involved. Family and caregiver involvement are key components of my holistic approach as communication is always a two way street!
I am passionate about working with schools to create supportive communication environments for all students and to ensure that education staff feel supported and empowered. Speech and language support shouldn’t feel like a burden for already busy schools so it is essential to weave into it the everyday life of school with projects that make an impact.
I have a range of specialist interests including (but not limited to):
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
Speech sound delays and disorders
Selective / Situational Mutism (SM)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Attachment and trauma
Stammering
In addition to the wide range of services above, I also offer specialised diagnostic assessments and reports for adults with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Understanding that DLD can persist into adulthood and significantly impact communication and performance in the workplace, I provide comprehensive evaluations to diagnose and develop tailored recommendations and training for employers.
Outside of my professional life, I am an avid reader, a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, and enjoy spending time with my family in Ireland and travelling to new places with friends.
If you or a loved one are facing speech and language challenges, I am here to help. Reach out today to begin a journey towards more confident communication, and have some fun along the way!
